The spot that gets the Buffalo State community moving has moved. After 18 months of extensive renovations, a pumped-up, state-of-the art Fitness Center will open Monday, July 21, in Houston Gym 230.
The center’s temporary location in Buckham Hall has closed.
The Fitness Center’s “high-impact” overhaul is part of a comprehensive rehabilitation of Houston Gym that will replace outdated mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems and provide contemporary facilities for Buffalo State’s athletics and fitness programs.
Along with the familiar treadmills, stationary bikes, and medicine balls, the center boasts $350,000 worth of new equipment and amenities.
“We have a full complement of the latest Life Fitness plate loaded machines, free weights, and multi-stations,” said Nick DeMarsh, head women's soccer coach and Fitness Center manager. “We have a huge fleet of cardio machines from Life Fitness, Precor and Octane Fitness: 12 treadmills, a stair mill, Jacobs ladder, eight stationary bikes, two espresso bikes, four lateral trainers, two seated and 10 regular elliptical machines, two stair steppers, and two row machines!”
Membership to the Fitness Center is open to Buffalo State students, faculty, and alumni. Free tours are available.
