New Paltz Bests Women's Basketball, 62-51

BUFFALO, NY—Christine Trupiano scored 22 points to lead New Paltz (3-3/2-1) to its first-ever victory over Buffalo State (2-4/0-2), 62-51, today at the Sports Arena. It was the 17th meeting between the two teams.

Buffalo State started the game with an 8-0 run and led 31-26 at the intermission. New Paltz rallied in the second half and took the lead for good at 45-43 with 5:59 to play. The Hawks closed the game on a 20-9 run.

Trupiano was 8-of-13 from the field and complimented her 22 points with seven rebounds. Kristin Jackson added 17 points for New Paltz, and Amber Sohns scored six points and dished out six assists. Tawan Slaughter (Buffalo/Christian Central) led Buffalo State with 14 points. Darnika Moseley (Liverpool/Liverpool) added 13 points, and Amanda Benoit (Whitesboro/Deerfield) scored a career-high 10 points and grabbed eight boards.

Buffalo State will return to action on December 29 against Hanover at the Wittenberg Invitational.
