In the News: Alumna, Instructor, Opens Medina Art Gallery

The renaissance that’s taking place in Western New York isn’t limited to Buffalo; it’s also affecting historic small towns such as Medina in Orleans County. According to the OrleansHub.com, Noelle Wiedemer, ’14, said that Medina is drawing widespread attention for the revival of its historic downtown business district. The Wide Angle Art Gallery, owned by Wiedemer and Kim Keil, joined Medina’s Main Street revival with an opening on September 13.

Wiedemer teaches a course on digital collections in the museum studies program at Buffalo State. In her master’s thesis, she explored the working methods of a noted twentieth-century photographer, Howard D. Beach. Beach was a prominent Buffalo portrait photographer who used gelatin dry plate negatives. Her research can be found at Digital Commons at Buffalo State.
