No. 12 Cortland Overpowers in Women’s Lacrosse, 15-5

BUFFALO, NY—Buffalo State (10-4/2-4) was officially eliminated from playoff contention as No. 12 Cortland (12-3/7-0) completed its perfect SUNYAC regular season with a 15-5 victory today at Coyer Field.

Meagan Powers (Pearl River/Pearl River), Molly Seifritz (Syracuse/Henninger), Stephanie Georgopoulos (Pt. Jefferson Station/Comsewogue), Kember Greco (Southampton/Southampton) and Katie Lyons (Williamsville/Williamsville North) all scored single goals for Buffalo State.

Cortland led 4-1 at the intermission, before exploding for 11 goals in the final 30 minutes. The Red Dragons doubled up the Bengals in shots, maintaining a 34-17 advantage. Buffalo State did force 18 Cortland turnovers. Tara Ammerman (Naples/Marcus Whitman) made six saves and allowed 11 goals. Katie Rivers (Waterloo/Waterloo) gave up four goals in relief duty, while making one save.

Buffalo State will wrap up its season tomorrow with a home contest against Brockport at 4 p.m.
