No. 25 Plattsburgh Holds Off Men’s Basketball, 79-70

BUFFALO, NY— Anthony Williams (Brooklyn/Morgan St.), the SUNYAC’s leading scorer, netted 25 points as No. 25-ranked Plattsburgh (10-2/4-0) defeated host Buffalo State (4-6/2-2), 79-70, in a conference game today at the Sports Arena.

Antwane Miller (Brooklyn/Paul Roberson) added 14 points for the Cardinals. Travis Gorham (Bridgeport, CT/Post U.) had 12 points and 10 rebounds, and Errol Daniyan (Coram/Longwood) scored 10 points and grabbed eight boards.

Dion Mozelle (Rego Park/Xaverian) led Buffalo State with 18 points and a career-best 20 rebounds. Antonio Samedi (St. Albans/Queens Vocational) also had career highs with 17 points and 13 boards, and Jamar Gray (Rochester/Bishop Kearney) added 16 points.

Buffalo State never led other than 1-0 as Plattsburgh claimed a 39-29 lead at the intermission. In the second half, the Cardinals used a 15-4 run to open up a 67-51 lead with 8:08 remaining. The Bengals mounted a late rally, cutting the deficit to six in the closing minutes, but could not climb all the way back.

Buffalo State will next travel to Oneonta on Friday, and Plattsburgh will host SUNYIT.
