No. 3 Oswego Holds Off Men’s Hockey, 2-1

BUFFALO, NY—Ryan Ellis (Georgetown, ON) had a goal and an assist as No. 3-ranked Oswego (18-1-3/9-0-2) edged host Buffalo State (10-10-2/4-6-1), 2-1, in a SUNYAC game tonight at the Ice Arena.

All three goals were scored in the second period. Buffalo State opened the scoring with a power-play marker just 43 seconds into the frame, when D’Arcy Thomas (Gatineau, PQ/Philemon Wright) scored with assists from Jason Hill (Niagara Falls/Niagara Falls) and Tyler Soehner (Baden, ON/Waterloo Oxford). Oswego evened the score with Ellis’ goal at the 5:20 mark, and took the lead on the power play late in the period on a goal by Peter Magagna (Orangeville, ON). Ryan McLaughlin (Brampton, ON) assisted on both Laker goals.

Oswego outshot the Bengals, 38-30. Sean Sheehan (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) made 36 saves for the Bengals, and Ryan Scott (Williamsville, NY) had 29 stops for the Lakers. Oswego was 1 for 13 on the power play, while Buffalo State was 1 for 8.

Buffalo State will play at Brockport next Friday.
