Oneonta Downs Men’s Soccer, 2-0

BUFFALO, NY—Oneonta (3-4/2-0) and Buffalo State (2-3-1/0-2) faced off for the first time in 23 years, with the Red Dragons prevailing 2-0 today at Coyer Field. Oneonta is in its second year of reclassification as it is rejoining the Division III ranks from Division I.

Danny Bruh (E. Williston/Wheatley) opened the scoring for Oneonta in the 39th minute when he dribbled past the Buffalo State goalkeeper after catching a through ball from Larry Pestana (Valhalla/Westlake). Keith Manscuk (Rochester/Aquinas) added a goal on a penalty kick in the 48th minute, after Michael Mahoney (New City/Clarkstown North) was tackled from behind in the box.

Oneonta outshot Buffalo State, 18-10. Jonathan Korn (Dix Hills/Half Hollow Hills) needed to make just one save to preserve the shutout for the Red Dragons. Dan Corti (Amawalk/Somers) had four stops for the Bengals.

Buffalo State will host New Paltz tomorrow at 1 p.m. Oneonta will play at Fredonia.
