Orosz Posts Qualifying Mark as Track & Field Competes at Mt. Union

ALLIANCE, Ohio—Junior Jenelle Orosz (N. Tonawanda/N. Tonawanda) won the high jump, clearing 1.67m, breaking her own school record and meeting the NCAA Championship qualifying standards as Buffalo State competed at the Mt. Union Invitational today. The women’s team finished sixth of 10, and the men were fourth of eight.

Mario Hicks (Corning/Corning West) also posted a first-place finish, winning the 55m hurdles (7.78). Tim Diegelman (Clarence/Clarence) placed second in the long jump (6.55m) and fourth in the 55m dash (7.00). Elvis Bream (Lockport/Lockport) was fourth in the 500m dash (1:09.36), and Kyle Fenner (Plattsburgh/Plattsburgh) (1-mile run – 4:43.82), Shilah Richardson (Auburn/Auburn) (400m dash – 53.94) and Puka Hoching (Gouverneur/Gouverneur) (35.-lb. weight throw – 13.49m) all had fifth-place showings.

Jameieka Price (Niagara Falls/Aviano American) was second in the 400m dash (1:02.96), and LaVonne Barfield (Rochester/Wilson Magnet) placed third in the long jump (5.20m). Sarah Gedraitis (Lockport/Akron) added a fourth-place finish in the 20-lb. weight throw (11.55m).

Buffalo State will compete at Baldwin Wallace next Friday in the final tune-up before the SUNYAC Championships.
