Oswego Tops Women’s Basketball in Regular Season Finale

BUFFALO, NY— Samantha Driscoll (Lisle/ Whitney Point) scored 15 points to lead Oswego (14-10/9-7) past host Buffalo State (10-15/6-10), 56-46, in the SUNYAC regular season finale today at the Sports Arena.

Sarah Lombard (Saratoga Springs/ Saratoga Springs) supplied 13 points and 10 rebounds off the bench for the Lakers, and Alaina Hannahs (Johnstown/ Johnstown) added 12 points.

Lindsay Smith (Ithaca/ Ithaca) led the Bengals with 14 points. Barb Kiliszek (Depew/ Lancaster) had 10 points and six steals, and Shareese Hamer (Erie, PA/ Strong Vincent) had eight points and 11 boards.

The teams traded runs in the first half. Buffalo State jumped out to an 11-5 advantage, before the Lakers mounted a 15-0 run to lead by as many as nine. The Bengals answered with a 10-0 run of their own, however, and trailed just 26-25 at the intermission. The game stayed close in the second half and was knotted at 43-43 with 3:50 remaining, but the Lakers outscored the Bengals, 13-3 down the stretch.

Buffalo State will travel to top-seeded Brockport on Tuesday for a 6 p.m. tip-off in the SUNYAC quarterfinals.
