Oswego Works Overtime to Beat Women's Soccer, 2-1
Maureen Kasperek (Fulton/G. Ray Bodley) scored 42 seconds into the second overtime to give visiting Oswego (5-4/3-1) a 2-1 victory over Buffalo State (5-3-1/1-3) today at Coyer Field.
Megan Rogers (Syracuse/E. Syracuse Minoa) opened the scoring for the Lakers in the game's 12th minute. Buffalo State pulled even with just 10:21 remaining in regulation on a goal by Liz Jacobsen (Gresham, OR/Sam Barlow) with assists from Gina Monaco (Niagara Falls/Niagara Falls) and Keriann Claussen (Santa Rosa, CA/Ursuline). Kasperek finally broke the tie, however, in the second overtime period.
Oswego finished with a 13-12 edge in shots, including a 3-0 advantage in overtime. Buffalo State goalkeeper Katie Melsert (Burnt Hills/Burnt Hills) made eight saves.
