Plattsburgh Holds Off Men's Basketball, 90-84

BUFFALO, NY—Plattsburgh (8-6/4-3) withstood a late Buffalo State (9-6/4-3) rally to hang on for a 90-84 victory in a SUNYAC game today at the Sports Arena.

Khylan Hunt (Saratoga Springs/Hudson Valley CC) led five Cardinals in double figures with 20 points and added 12 rebounds. Anthony Williams (Brooklyn/Morgan State) added 18 points and five assists. Travis Gorham (Bridgeport, CT/Post Univ.) had 16 points and 16 boards, Jerrad Dumont (Chateaugay/North Country CC) had 13 points, and Ricky Rider (W. Coxsackie/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk) scored 10.

Dion Mozelle (Rego Park/Xaverian) paced Buffalo State with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Javon Jones (Harlem/Hillside NC) also had 14 points, and John Lawal (Hempstead/Uniondale) added 13 points and seven rebounds.

Plattsburgh assembled a 9-0 run in the middle of the opening half and led 45-36 at the intermission. The Cardinals built on their lead in the second half, leading by double figures much of the way, including by as many as 18. Buffalo State stormed back, however, cutting the deficit to just two, 86-84 with 32 seconds to play, but Plattsburgh hit a layup and two free throws in the closing seconds to seal the win.

Buffalo State will continue its quest for its 1,000th win as a varsity program when it hosts Geneseo on Tuesday at 8 p.m.
