Buffalo State’s Pride Alliance, a student organization supported by the United Students Government, presents a free show on Thursday, November 29, in the Performing Arts Center at Rockwell Hall at 8:00 p.m. The show, Cirque du Drag, is an annual event. Last year, it attracted an audience of more than 500 people.

Shakora Purks, president of the Pride Alliance said, "People constantly tell us they love this show." The Pride Alliance is the campus LGBT and ally organization that accepts and welcomes all.

Cirque du Drag features acts performed by both professional and amateur drag queens and kings. This year’s show will be emceed by drag queen Bee Bee Bvlgari.

Students who are taking part in the show went through an audition process. "Although they are amateurs," said Purks, "the show has set a high standard for entertainment, and we want to maintain that standard." All performers choreograph their own routines.

The show has proven to be popular with many people. "The audience is like a rainbow coalition with people from all over campus attending," Purks said. "The show demonstrates the togetherness and acceptance for the LGBT community at Buffalo State."

“If you’re looking for something fun to do on a Thursday night, this is it,” said Zakiyyah Simmons, vice president of the Pride Alliance. “You don’t have to be part of the LGTB community to have fun at it!”
