Shreeram Inamdar, assistant professor, Great Lakes Center for Environmental Research and Education, received a New Investigator Award for 2002 through the U.S. Department of Agriculture's National Research Initiative Program. The $169,972 award supports a two-year project in New York State's Adirondack Mountains, through which Inamdar will research the coupling between hydrological and biogeochemical processes in watersheds.







Gary Welborn, associate professor, Sociology, and his wife, Eileen, received the 2002 Volunteers of the Year Award from West Side Neighborhood Housing Services Inc. on June 5. The couple was honored for their community organization and revitalization efforts on Buffalo's West Side. They cofounded the Massachusetts Avenue Project, which involves residents in community projects, and helped obtain more than $1 million in revitalization funds.
