Resurfacing Project Begins on Coyer Field

Construction officially began yesterday on the resurfacing of Coyer Field, the outdoor hub of the Buffalo State Athletics Department.

On Monday, crews began the process of converting the playing surface to an artificial turf to open for play in the fall of 2008. The new surface will be a synthetic grass surface supplied by A-Turf. Similar fields have been installed at several other colleges in the Northeast, including the University at Buffalo, Plattsburgh and Alfred State

Coyer Field opened in the early 1960s as natural grass surface. The current facility has seating capacity for 3,000, a 400-meter track, an all-sport scoreboard, jumping pits, and a 35-seat press box. The field serves as the home for football, men's and women's soccer, women's lacrosse, and men's and women's outdoor track and field.
