"Some say the best musical instrument of all is the human voice - if you've seen Rockapella you know that's the truth," says USA Today. This five-man powerhouse of vocal talent sweeps through sold-out venues across the country year-round. With an ever-expanding fan base, they're known as the kings of contemporary a cappella. Individually, Rockapella is: Scott Leonard (high tenor), Kevin Wright (tenor), Jeff Thacher (vocal percussionist), George Baldi (bass) and John K. Brown (tenor).

Rockapella was formed for the sheer love of performing; singing on New York City street corners with a hat out at their feet. They caught the eye of a producer putting together a television special titled Spike & Co.: Do It A Cappella, hosted by filmmaker Spike Lee. This in turn led to a daily appearance on Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego?, a wildly popular kid's game show on public television. Television & radio commercials and international recording contracts followed. Rockapella has released more than 20 albums over the last 18 years, with their most recent titled, Live in Japan.

The buzz around Rockapella's new holiday show has resulted in this year being their biggest holiday tour ever. From New York to L.A., and at 20-some spots in between, Rockapella will celebrate with its completely original take on the holidays, adding its smooth edge to the season's warm heart. From very unexpected takes on classic favorites to brand new originals destined to be classics, audiences can expect to be tickled and touched by a holiday performance like no other. Singing creative renditions of Perry Como’s "Home for the Holidays" to Carpenters' "Merry Christmas Darling," Rockapella’s signature all-human, all-vocal sound will be a holiday experience not to be matched.

The 2005-2006 Great Performers Series is sponsored by M&T Bank, The Buffalo News and WBFO.
