Softball Bats Return in Brockport Sweep

BROCKPORT, NY—Buffalo State (11-5/4-2) rediscovered it offense, belting 21 hits and plating 16 runs in a two-game sweep against host Brockport (8-6/2-2) today, winning 6-3 and 10-3.

The Bengals erased a one-run deficit in the opener with a five-run fifth inning, that included a pair of two-run doubles by Christina Tschari (Clarence/ Clarence) and Carly Lopez (Oriskany/ Oriskany). Nicole Maher (Waterloo/ Waterloo) was 3 for 4, Jolene Banach (Cheektowaga/ Maryvale) was 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI, and Arielle Austin (Smithtown/ Smithtown West) was 2 for 4 with two runs scored. Jenna Frieling (E. Amherst/ Williamsville North) earned the win, allowing six hits and striking out five.

Buffalo State raced out to an 8-0 lead and cruised to the seven-run win in the nightcap. Jolene Banach was 2 for 5 with a homerun and three RBIs, and twin sister Jordan Banach (Cheektowaga/ Maryvale) was 3 for 5 with a double and three runs scored. Aimee Fisher (Hamburg/ Frontier) recorded the win, tossing a two-hitter with five strikeouts and allowed no earned runs.

Buffalo State will travel to RIT tomorrow for a non-conference twin bill.
