Softball Blanks RIT in Twin Bill

Buffalo State (14-2) blanked visiting RIT (5-7) in a pair of non-conference games today at Bengal Field, posting 7-0 and 6-0 victories.

In the first game, Buffalo State launched a consistent offensive attack, scoring seven runs on 10 hits and three RIT errors. Nadine Sirianni (Niagara Falls/Niagara Falls) led the Bengals, going 3 for 4 with a triple, an RBI and three runs scored. Heidi Rammacher (Angola/Lakeshore) was also 3 for 4 with an RBI, and Emily Goldyn (Lancaster/Lancaster) was 1 for 3 with a double and an RBI. Freshman Nicole Sabuda (Orchard Park/Orchard Park) pitched her second shutout of the season, allowing just five hits.

In the nightcap, Buffalo State opened the scoring with a two-out rally in the fourth inning that plated three runs and included a two-run homer by Sirianni. The Bengals added three more runs in the sixth inning to put the game out of reach. Alyssa Brosius (N. Tonawanda/N. Tonawanda) went 3 for 4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Sabuda was 1 for 4 with a double and two RBIs. Lauren Wright (Westfield/Westfield) cruised to her second shutout win of the season, scattering six hits.

Buffalo State will resume SUNYAC play this Friday when it travels to Oneonta for a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
