Softball Closes Home Schedule with Oswego Sweep
Buffalo State wrapped up its home schedule today with a doubleheader sweep of SUNYAC-foe Oswego, winning the opener 4-0 and taking the second game 6-0.
In the opener, Buffalo State opened the scoring with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third inning on back-to-back RBI singles by Alyssa Brosius (N. Tonawanda/N. Tonawanda) and Nadine Sirianni (Niagara Falls/Niagara Falls). The Bengals would add runs in the fourth and fifth to clinch the 4-0 victory. Liz Beiter (N. Tonawanda/N. Tonawanda) earned her ninth win of the season on the mound, scattering five hits in the shutout. Brosius and Sirianni each finished 2-for-3 with an RBI. Missy Constanza (Hannibal/Hannibal) led the Lakers bats, going 2-for-3. Heather McBride (Mechanicville/Mechanicville) took the loss on the mound allowing eight hits and four runs.
In the nightcap, Emily Goldyn (Lancaster/Lancaster) opened the scoring with a solo-homerun to leadoff the fourth inning, before Buffalo State cruised to the 6-0 victory. Kristen Scheffold (Lancaster/Lancaster) earned the win on the mound for the Bengals' allowing just two hits, while fanning nine. Heidi Rammacher (Angola/Lakeshore) was 3-for-3 for Buffalo State, and Tiffany Ciolek (Limestone/Salamanca) was 2-for-4 with a triple. Nicole Willats (Tonawanda/Sweet Home) broke the Buffalo State career record for sacrifices with 43. Oswego's Susie Burt (Cuba/Cuba-Rushford) took the loss on the mound despite registering eight strikeouts.
Buffalo State improved to 14-10 overall and 8-4 in SUNYAC play. The Bengals will travel to Ithaca tomorrow for a non-conference doubleheader. Oswego is now 4-20 overall and 0-10 in conference play and will face Plattsburgh on Monday.
