Softball Extends Win-Streak to Eight with Plattsburgh Sweep

In the opener, Buffalo State jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second inning, highlighted by an Emily Goldyn (Lancaster/Lancaster) two-run homer. Plattsburgh closed the gap to 3-2 in the fourth inning, but the Bengals responded with a run in the fifth and held on for the 4-2 victory. Goldyn finished the game 2-for-3 with a double and the homer. Heidi Rammacher (Angola/Lakeshore) went 2-for-2 with an RBI, and Laurie Hutten (Tonawanda/Kenmore West) was 2-for-4. Liz Beiter (N. Tonawanda/N. Tonawanda) earned the win on the mound, allowing six hits and two runs in six innings of work. Kristen Scheffold (Lancaster/Lancaster) picked up the save in one inning of relief.

In the second game, the Bengals capitalized on three Plattsburgh errors and a three-run homer by Nicole Willats (Tonawanda/Sweet Home) to score four runs in the third inning and grab a lead that it would not relinquish. Goldyn added a solo-homer in the fifth inning to wrap up the Bengals' scoring. Plattsburgh committed eight errors in the game. Willats finished 3-for-3 with the homerun and three RBI. Goldyn was 2-for-3. Scheffold registered the win on the mound, allowing five hits and two runs.

Buffalo State improved to 22-12 and 14-4 in SUNYAC play. The Bengals will wrap up the regular season tomorrow with a doubleheader at Geneseo.
