Softball Extends Winning Streak to Seven, Takes Two From Bethel

CLERMONT, Fla.—Aimee Fisher (Hamburg/ Frontier) tossed a pair of complete game victories as Buffalo State (7-3) closed its spring trip with seven-consecutive wins, including two wins over Bethel (5-7) today at the USA National Training Center. The Bengals won 3-2 in eight innings and 1-0.

Buffalo State came from behind twice in the opener and capitalized on Bethel errors in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings to claim a 3-2 extra-inning victory. Jessica Mooney (Tonawanda/ Kenmore West) and Courtney Keleher (Tonawanda/ Kenmore West) led the Bengal bats, each going 2 for 3. Fisher was solid in the win on the mound, allowing six hits and two runs with six strikeouts in a complete game.

Nicole Maher (Waterloo/ Waterloo) went 2 for 3 with a triple and a walk-off RBI double in the bottom of the seventh inning in the 1-0 win in the late game. Fisher cruised in the circle, allowing just two hits with three strikeouts in her first shutout of the season. Fisher was also 1 for 2 at the plate with a double.

The Bengals will return to Buffalo tomorrow and are scheduled to open league play with a doubleheader at SUNYIT on Friday at 3 and 5 p.m.
