Softball Extends Winning Streak; Sweeps New Paltz

NEW PALTZ, NY--Buffalo State (23-7/13-3) pushed its current winning streak to five with a two-game sweep at New Paltz (13-19/6-10), winning 2-1 and 6-0, on the road today.

In the first game, the Bengals mustered just five hits, including a homerun by Laurie Hutten (Tonawanda/Kenmore West) to leadoff the game. Hutten finished 2 for 3. Jessica Mooney (Tonawanda/Kenmore West) was 1 for 3 with the game-winning RBI in the third inning. Aimee Fisher (Hamburg/Frontier) was the winning pitcher, allowing just three hits with 10 strikeouts.

Buffalo State registered nine hits in the 6-0 win in the nightcap. Lauren Mruk (Lancaser/Lancaster) was 2 for 2 with two RBIs, and Mooney was 2 for 3 with an RBI. Jordan Banach (Cheektowaga/Maryvale) added a two-run homerun. Jenna Schwartzmeyer (Williamsville/Williamsville South) scattered four hits for the shutout.

Buffalo State will play another conference twin bill at Oneonta tomorrow.
