Softball Hammers Oneonta in Sweep

ONEONTA, NY--Buffalo State (25-7/15-3) belted 26 hits and plated 20 runs in just nine offensive innings in a pair of five inning wins today at Oneonta (11-25/7-13), 9-0 and 11-1.

Buffalo State mustered 13 hits in the opener and made short work of the Red Dragons, as Aimee Fisher (Hamburg/Frontier) threw a four-hit shutout with six strikeouts. Fisher tied her own single-season school record for strikeouts with 138. Lauren Mruk (Lancaster/Lancaster) led the offense, going 3 for 3 with two RBIs. Jordan Banach (Cheektowaga/Maryvale) was 2 for 3 with a homerun and four RBIs. Jolene Banach was also 2 for 3.

In the second game, Jordan Banach homered again, going 2 for 3 with two RBIs. Jessica Mooney (Tonawanda/Kenmore West), Jenna Schwartzmeyer (Williamsville/Williamsville South) and Mruk all had two hits each. Nicole Sabuda (Orchard Park/Orchard Park) earned the win, allowing four hits and one run in 3 1/3 innings.

Buffalo State will wrap up the regular season with a doubleheader at Cortland tomorrow.
