Buffalo State followed a familiar pattern today at RIT, winning the opener by a 6-2 tally, but dropped the second game, 9-2.

The Bengals jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning in the opener. RIT rallied to close the gap to 3-2 in the fourth inning, but Buffalo State added three more runs in the sixth inning to preserve the victory. Melissa Balsavage (Depew/Depew) earned the win on the mound scattering eight hits over seven innings. Laurie Hutten (Tonawanda/Kenmore West) and Heidi Rammacher (Angola/Lakeshore) were each 2-for-4 at the plate for the Bengals.

In the nightcap, the Bengals struck first to open the game, but RIT's bats came to life pounding 13 hits and producing nine runs. Hutten was 3-for-4 for the Bengals, and Lindsey Matheis (Hamburg/Williamsville South) was 2-for-3 with her first career homerun and a double. Lauren Wright (Westfield/Westfield) took the loss for Buffalo State.

Buffalo State is now 8-8 and will host Oneonta in a conference doubleheader on Friday.
