Buffalo State's pitching staff led the Bengals to a pair of victories at non-conference University of Rochester, winning 2-0 and 2-1.

In the opener, the Bengals scored runs in the third and seventh, and junior Melissa Balsavage (Depew/Depew) cruised on the mound, allowing just three hits in the shutout. Heidi Rammacher (Angola/Lakeshore) was 1-for-2 with the game's only RBI. Nadine Sirianni (Niagara Falls/Niagara Falls) and Emily Goldyn (Lancaster/Lancaster) each added doubles for the Bengals.

Rochester scored first in the nightcap, but freshman Lauren Mruk (Lancaster/Lancaster) hit a solo-homer in the fifth and stroked an RBI double in the seventh to give Buffalo State the lead. Kristen Scheffold (Lancaster/Lancaster) made the lead last as she hurled a three-hitter with 10 strikeouts and no earned runs. Goldyn added her second double of the day.

Buffalo State improved to 16-12 on the season and will travel to SUNYIT tomorrow for a conference doubleheader.
