Softball Swept at Ithaca

Buffalo State dropped a pair of non-conference games at Ithaca today, 6-0 and 5-3, wrapping up a six-game stretch over the past three days.

In the opener, a 6-0 loss, Nicole Willats (Tonawanda/Sweet Home) led the Bengals' offense, going 2-for-3. Liz Beiter (N. Tonawanda/N. Tonawanda) allowed 11 hits on the mound in the loss.

The Bengals dropped the second game by a 5-3 margin. Melissa Balsavage (Depew/Depew) got the start on the mound, but surrendered five runs on four hits in two innings. Kristen Scheffold (Lancaster/Lancaster) pitched the final four innings, allowing no runs and no hits. Heidi Rammacher (Angola/Lakeshore) was 2-for-3 with a double, and Lindsey Matheis (Hamburg/Williamsville South) added a double and two RBI.

Buffalo State fell to 14-12 on the season and will travel to the University of Rochester on Tuesday for another non-conference doubleheader.
