FT. MYERS, Fla.—Buffalo State (8-2) edged Plymouth State (NH), 2-0, in the opener, and breezed past Lawrence (Wisc.), 6-1, in the late game today at the Cape Coral Sports Complex.

Buffalo State had just three hits in the opener, but a Laurie Hutten (Tonawanda/Kenmore West) single in the sixth inning set up an RBI by Lauren Mruk (Lancaster/Lancaster) to open the scoring. Jordan Banach (Cheektowaga/Maryvale) provided an insurance run in the seventh with a solo homer, and the Bengals held Plymouth off the scoreboard. Nicole Sabuda (Orchard Park/Orchard Park) earned the win, allowing just two hits in six innings. Freshman Aimee Fisher (Hamburg/Frontier) picked up her first career save, retiring all three hitters she faced in the seventh inning.

Fisher improved to 5-0 on the year in the second game, allowing just two hits and striking out nine. She also paced the offense, going 2 for 4 with two RBIs. Sabuda was 2 for 3 with an RBI, and Jolene Banach (Cheektowaga/Maryvale) was 2 for 4 with a run scored.

Buffalo State will wrap up its spring trip tomorrow against Wisconsin-Superior and Carleton (Minn.) tomorrow at 9 and 11 a.m. respectively at the Cape Coral Sports Complex.
