Swimmers and Divers Wrap Up Dual Meet Schedule at Brockport
Buffalo State concluded its dual meet schedule today at Brockport with the men falling 105.5-90.5 and the women dropping a 126-95 decision.
The Bengals had a pair of double-winners on the men's side. Tommy Schilke (Tonawanda/Sweet Home) swept the one and three-meter diving events with scores of 202.7 and 191.7 respectively. Rich Gaczewski (N. Tonawanda/N. Tonawanda) touched first in the 400 IM in 4:54.07 and in the 200 fly in 2:12.72. Eric Hastings (Wilmington, DE/Mt. Pleasant) claimed the 500 free with a time of 5:09.48.
On the women's side, the Bengals swam well, winning seven of the 11 swimming events, but an undersized roster prevented Buffalo State from earning the overall victory. Mindy Wood (Middlesex/Marcus Whitman) captured a pair of individual victories, touching first in the 200 IM (2:30.59) and in the 500 free (5:42.5). Casie Seier (Palmyra/Palmyra-Macedon) won the 1000 free in 12:33.13, Susan Stiner (Niagara Falls/Niagara Falls) won the 200 free in 2:07.35, and Marie Ryer (Buffalo/Hutch Tech) captured the 100 free in 1:00.26.
Buffalo State's men finished the season with a 1-6 record, while the women finished at 0-7. Both teams will continue to train for the SUNYAC Championships that will run from February 11-14 at the Burt Flickinger Aquatic Center in downtown Buffalo.
