Swimming and Diving Complete Second Day of SUNYAC Championships
The SUNYAC Swimming and Diving Championships completed its second day of competition today at the Flickinger Aquatic Center at Erie Community College. Buffalo State's men are seventh of nine teams with 182 points, and the women are in sixth with 157 points.
The top Bengal finish on the men's side was submitted Rich Gaczewski (N. Tonawanda/N. Tonawanda) in the 400 individual medley where he touched sixth with a time of 4:26.20. Gaczewski also joined Dave Papke (Woodlawn/St. Francis), Derek Stoklosa (W. Seneca/W. Seneca West) and Eric Hastings (Wilmington, DE/Mt. Pleasant) on the 800 free relay team that placed 6th in 7:30.26.
The women's 800 free relay team of Marie Ryer (Buffalo/Hutch Tech), Mindy Wood (Middlesex/Marcus Whitman), Susan Stiner (Niagara Falls/Niagara Falls) and Sara Weinert (Byron/Byron-Bergen) also had a strong race, finishing sixth, clocking 8:31.36.
The championships will conclude tomorrow. Prelims begin at 10 a.m., and finals start at 6 p.m.
