Swimming & Diving Posts Matching Seventh Place Showings at SUNYAC Championships

BUFFALO, NY—Buffalo State’s swimming and diving teams wrapped the 2007 SUNYAC Championships tonight at the ECC Flickinger Aquatic Center with both the men’s and women’s teams finishing in seventh place.

Eric Hastings (Wilmington, DE/Mt. Pleasant) had the top individual finish of the meet tonight, placing third in the 1,650 free, just under one second off of school record pace in 17:06.80. Kevin Buisman (Penfield/Penfield) led four point-scorers in the 200 breast, touching fifth (2:15.35). Tim Harroun (Tonawanda/Tonawanda) followed Buisman in seventh (2:18.35); Lance Thornton (Hastings/Hastings) was 11th (2:20.92); and Kyle Benedict (Elmira Heights/Horseheads) was 15th (2:22.43). Three Bengals also scored in the 200 fly, with Scott Banks (N. Tonawanda/Niagara Wheatfield) (2:09.25), Cy Creamer (Manlius/Fayetteville-Manlius) (2:11.81), and Vince Wasneechak (Gorham, ME/Lemoore CA) (2:16.79) placing 12th, 14th and 16th respectively. Mike Luther (Hamburg/Frontier) was 15th in the 200 back (2:05.95), and Matt Clark (Amherst/Sweet Home) was 12th in the 3-meter dive (224.75).

On the women’s side, Mindy Wood (Rushville/Middlesex) touched 12th in the 1,650 free (18:59.07). Sarah Garasz (Lancaster/Lancaster) was 14th in the 100 free (57.03). Kris Kinn (Angola/Lakeshore) was 15th in the 1-meter dive with a score of 312.90.
