Movie lovers can have their own night on the red carpet during Buffalo State’s TFA Night at the Oscars, Sunday, February 26, from 8:00 p.m. to midnight in the Campbell Student Union Social Hall.
Television and Film Arts (TFA) Director Jeffery Hirschberg’s film and criticism classes organized the 10th annual event, which includes a viewing of the 89th Academy Awards on a big screen. TFA students will conduct interviews and take photos of guests wearing semi-formal/formal attire. The Marquee Band will provide entertainment and refreshments will be served.
"TFA Night at the Oscars is a big celebration of the year's best films," said sophomore Noelle Fisher, co-chair for the event. "Television and film is something everyone can relate to."
Although there is no theme for this year's event, students plan to decorate the Social Hall in gold —reflecting the Oscar statuette—Fisher said.
The evening also provides a time for aspiring filmmakers to shine. Several TFA students submitted short films in hopes of receiving a TFA Pioneer award. Award nominees will be announced live via the Buffalo State Facebook page at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are $10. Students with ID are admitted for free. All proceeds will benefit the TFA program.
