Track & Field Split Squad Competes at Baldwin-Wallace Invitational

BEREA, OH—A portion of Buffalo State’s indoor track and field teams were in action at the Baldwin-Wallace Invitational this evening.

Toya Edwards (Brooklyn/ Clara Barton) led the women’s squad, winning the 400-meter dash in 59.41. Taniqua Hollingsworth (Buffalo/ East) was third (1:02.95), Katya Marin (Mt. Vernon/ Mt. Vernon) was fourth (1:03.46), and Anika Niles (Brooklyn/ Samuel Tilden) was fifth (1:03.53) in the same event. Tiffany Aaron (Rochester/ Wilson Magnet) crossed second in the 200-meter dash (27.00). Jenelle Orosz (N. Tonawanda/N. Tonawanda) was third in the high jump (1.52m), and Reya Russell (N. Tonawanda/ N. Tonawanda) was third in the 55-meter hurdles (8.94). Alyssa Syms (Buffalo/ Cleveland Hill) added a fifth-place showing in the 500-meter run (1:37.63).

Buffalo State men’s runners finished first and third in the 200-meter dash with Xavier Mateen (New Rochelle/ New Rochelle) (22.88) and Shilah Richardson (Auburn/ Auburn) (23.84) crossing respectively. Willie Hordge (Buffalo/ Forestbrook TX) won the 400-meter dash (49.95), followed by Maurice Little (Newburgh/ Newburgh) in third (51.02). Mario Hicks (Corning/ Corning West) (7.87) and Ray Shadowens (Troup, TX/ Arp) (7.89) were second and third respectively in the 55-meter hurdles. Kenny Johnson (Rochester/ Eastridge) was second in the long jump (6.29m), and Tim Diegelman (Clarence/ Clarence) was third in the high jump (1.83m).

Buffalo State will compete again tomorrow at Mt. Union.
