Buffalo State's Todd Wassinger (Sanborn/Starpoint) was named the New York State Collegiate Track Conference (NYSCTC) Field Athlete of the Week after a strong showing at Saturday's Division I meet at the University of Maryland.

Wassinger, a senior criminal justice major, placed eighth in the shot put with a throw of 14.51 meters, competing against the likes of Maryland, Syracuse, West Virginia, Penn, Rutgers, Temple and more. Wassinger holds the Buffalo State records for the indoor weight throw and the outdoor hammer throw.

Buffalo State will face high-caliber competition again next Saturday at the University of Miami (Ohio) Invitational.
