Women's Basketball Edges Geneseo, 50-45
Buffalo State went 14-of-18 from the free-throw line to pick up its third SUNYAC win of the season, defeating Geneseo, 50-45, tonight on the road.
Buffalo State went on a six-point run with 4:48 remaining in the game to tighten the score 40-37. The Bengals never looked back as sophomore Amanda Benoit (Deerfield/Deerfield) hit a jumper at 1:18 to put Buffalo State in the lead, 43-42.
Junior Tawan Slaughter (Buffalo/Christian Central) scored 12 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Bengals. Junior Jacey Brooks (Machias/Franklinville) also added 12 points and went 8-of-8 from the free-throw line. Freshman Toya Parks (Brooklyn/MLK) tallied six steals and sophomore Darnika Moseley (Liverpool/Liverpool) had six boards.
The Bengals advance to 6-11 overall with a 3-5 mark in conference play. Buffalo State returns to the Sports Arena Friday, Jan. 28 when they host Plattsburgh at 6 p.m.
