Women's Basketball Edges Medaille, 50-45

Buffalo State's (4-4) women's basketball team held on to defeat Medaille (5-3), 50-45, tonight, despite shooting just 26-percent from the field on its home court.

The Bengals led 20-16 at halftime as the two teams combined to shoot 13-of-70 (18.6-percent) from the floor and committed 20 turnovers. Buffalo State never trailed in the second half and extended its lead to as many as 14 points, before eventually claiming the five-point victory. Medaille shot 25-percent for the game.

Jacey Brooks (Machias/Franklinville) led Buffalo State with her first double-double of the season, scoring 15 points and grabbing 14 rebounds. Monique Hanks (Liverpool/Liverpool) tallied eight point and seven rebounds, and Darnika Moseley (Liverpool/Liverpool) pulled down 11 boards in the win.

Jen Snyder (Buffalo/Holy Angels) led the Mavericks in scoring with 14 points, and Lynn Buehlmann (Blasdell/Orchard Park) added 11 points. Lauren Smith (Kenmore/Kenmore East) grabbed 14 rebounds for Medaille.

Buffalo State will travel to the Elizabethtown (PA) Invitational this weekend.
