Women's Basketball Edges Oswego, 66-63

Monique Hanks’ (Liverpool/Liverpool) career-high 23 points, eight rebounds and eight steals led Buffalo State (2-2/1-0) past Oswego (1-1/0-1), 66-63, tonight in the SUNYAC opener for both teams.

Buffalo State took the lead trailed by as many as five points down the stretch, but Desi Gibson (Rochester/Edison Tech) finally gave the Bengals the lead for good with a 15-foot jumper with 17.7 seconds remaining, and Jacey Brooks (Machais/Franklinville) iced the win with a pair of free throws in the closing seconds.

Brooks finished the game with 10 points and six rebounds. Freshman Darnika Moseley (Liverpool/Liverpool) recorded her first career double-double with 10 points and 14 boards. Gibson added six points in the win.

Amanda McLaughlin (Groton/Groton) led Oswego with 14 points, six rebounds and six steals. Kelly Mraz (Johnstown/Johnstown) added 13 points, and Jessica Tremblay (Albany/Colonie) chipped in 10 points.
