Women’s Basketball Opens 2008 With Loss at Lycoming

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.—Toya Parks (Brooklyn/MLK) matched her career high with 26 points for Buffalo State (4-6), but host Lycoming (6-4) posted 64-56 victory tonight, outscoring the Bengals 21-6 from 3-point range.

Barb Kiliszek (Depew/Lancaster) added nine points, six rebounds and a career-best seven assists for Buffalo State. Lindsay Smith (Ithaca/Ithaca) chipped in eight points and five boards, and Shareese Hamer (Erie, PA/Strong Vincent) had four points and nine rebounds.

Buffalo State’s only lead came in the game’s opening minutes as Lycoming led 26-23 at halftime. The Warriors held the Bengals in check in the second half, but never led by more than nine. Buffalo State was just 2 of 9 from 3-point range, compared to 7 of 18 shooting by Lycoming.

Buffalo State will face Rutgers-Camden tomorrow at 1 p.m. in the final day of the Lycoming Classic.
