Women's Basketball Pulls Past Potsdam, 61-55

BUFFALO, NY—Buffalo State (6-10/3-4) overcame an eight-point halftime deficit to defeat visiting Potsdam (1-14/1-5), 61-55, in a SUNYAC contest today at the Sports Arena.

Potsdam jumped out to a fast start and took a 14-point lead, before closing the first half with a 35-27 advantage. Buffalo State rallied in the second half and took its first lead since the opening minutes of the game with 11:41 remaining. The Bengals held on, despite shooting a dismal 55.6-percent from the free throw line.

Freshman Gina Apa (Buffalo/McKinley) led the Bengals with a career-high 17 points. Darnika Moseley (Liverpool/Liverpool) added 16 points and eight rebounds, and Shareese Hamer (Erie, PA/Strong Vincent) notched her first career double-double with 10 points and 11 boards.

Maureen Curley (Madrid/Madrid-Waddington) led the Bears with 16 points and six boards. Amy Rich (Bolton/Bolton) scored 14 points and grabbed 14 rebounds.

Buffalo State will travel to conference-rival Geneseo on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
