Women’s Basketball Upsets Visiting Geneseo

BUFFALO, NY— Toya Parks (Brooklyn/MLK) netted 25 points as Buffalo State (7-11/3-6) snapped visiting Geneseo’s (7-11/5-4) five-game winning streak with a 68-54 victory in a SUNYAC contest tonight at the Sports Arena.

Barb Kiliszek (Depew/Lancaster) added a career-best 17 points, and Shareese Hamer (Erie, PA/Strong Vincent) had 14 points and seven rebounds.

Buffalo State jumped out to an early 13-4 lead and maintained a 36-29 advantage at halftime. The Bengals never relinquished the lead in the second frame, pulling ahead by as many as 16. Buffalo State overcame being outrebounded 36-26 by shooting 47-percent from the field, compared to 34-percent shooting by the Knights. The Bengals converted 28 Geneseo turnovers into 32 points.

Buffalo State will host SUNYAC West-leading Brockport tomorrow at 2 p.m.
