Women's Basketball Works Overtime; Falls to Rosemont, 64-60
Buffalo State tied the score in the closing seconds of regulation, but lost in overtime to Rosemont (Pa.), 64-60, today in the consolation game of the Moravian Winter Classic in Bethlehem, Pa.
Rosemont led 21-19 at halftime, but the lead changed hands several times in the second stanza. Jacey Brooks (Machias/Franklinville) hit a lay-up with just 1.7 seconds remaining in regulation to pull the Bengals even at 48-48 and force overtime. Buffalo State never led in the extra period, however, as Rosemont claimed the four-point win.
Brooks led the Bengals offense with 17 points and added seven rebounds. Darnika Moseley (Liverpool/Liverpool) posted her sixth career double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Toya Parks (Brooklyn/MLK) scored 11 points, and Amanda Benoit (Deerfield/Whitesboro) had nine points and 16 boards.
Buffalo State fell to 3-7. The Bengals will return to SUNYAC play on Tuesday when they host Cortland at 6 p.m.
