Women's Hockey Completes Sweep at Cortland, 2-1

CORTLAND, NY—Jackie Blanchard (Bethlehem, NY/Delmar) scored with 5:09 remaining in the third period and Buffalo State (6-8-1/5-3) defeated host Cortland (1-13-1/0-8-1), 2-1, today in an ECAC West contest.

Cortland opened the scoring with a power-play goal 8:05 into the contest, but Buffalo State evened the score at 1-1 just 2:04 later when defenseman Mary Cohen (Ann Arbor, MI/Pioneer) scored with an assist from Sam Simpson (Fairbanks, AK/West Valley). After a scoreless second period, Blanchard netted the game-winner with an assist from Kelsey Truran (Berkley, MI/Berkley).

Buffalo State outshot the Red Dragons, 26-25. Junior Shannon Anesetti (Canonsburg, PA/Canon-McMillan) made 24 saves in goal for the victory.

Buffalo State moved into a third place tie with Utica after the weekend sweep of Cortland.

Buffalo State will travel to Castleton State for a pair of non-conference games next weekend.
