Women's Hockey Falls to Cortland, 4-1
BUFFALO, NY--Buffalo State (4-14-2/0-9) dropped a 4-1 decision to visiting Cortland (7-14-1/3-8) today in an ECAC West showdown at the Ice Arena.
Cortland opened the scoring just 1:36 into the game, but Buffalo State evened the score just 2:05 later on a power-play goal by Jamie Overbeck (Tonawanda/Kenmore East). Melissa Jeckovich (Niagara Falls/Niagara Falls) and Jessica Thieme (Roselle, IL/Lake Park) were credited with assists on the play. Cortland regained the lead later in the opening frame and added two more insurance goals early in the third period to seal the win.
The Red Dragons outshot Buffalo State 32-20 for the game. Shannon Anesetti (Cannonsburg, PA/Caron-McMillan) made 28 saves in goal for the Bengals.
The teams will meet again tomorrow at the Ice Arena at 1 p.m.
