Women's Hockey Rebounds Past Castleton, 2-1
CASTLETON, Vt.--Buffalo State (7-9-1) avenged yesterday's 4-0 loss to Castleton (5-13-0) with a 2-1 victory over the Spartans today in a non-conference battle.
Freshman defenseman Kristin Bozek (Buffalo/Hutch Tech) opened the scoring early in the first period with her fifth of the season. Castleton notched a power-play goal late in the second to even the score, but freshman Casey Bull (Lockport/Lockport) netted her team-leading sixth of the season with just 7:15 remaining to put Buffalo State back on top.
Rachel Bennett (Howell, MI/Howell) preserved the victory, making 23 saves, as the Spartans had a 24-21 advantage in shots on goal for the game.
Buffalo State will host Neumann for a pair of critical ECAC West games during alumni reunion weekend on Saturday and Sunday.
