Women's Lacrosse Falls Short at Geneseo in Four Overtimes

GENESEO, NY—Buffalo State (8-3/0-3) was unable to hold a lead and dropped a heartbreaker at Geneseo (8-2/4-1), falling 12-11 in four overtimes, in a SUNYAC game today.

Freshman Stephanie Georgopoulos (Pt. Jefferson Station/Comsewogue) led the Bengals with a career-high six goals. Meagan Powers (Pearl River/Pearl River) and Joni Hill (Hagersville, ON/Hagersville) each scored twice, and Shantel Ackley (Baldwinsville/CW Baker) added a goal and an assist.

Buffalo State led 7-4 at the intermission, but Geneseo reversed the score in the second half to for the overtime. Neither team could find the back of the net, until the Knights finally ended the game with 2:12 remaining in the second overtime.

Geneseo outshot Buffalo State, 26-15, including 18-6 after the first half. Tara Ammerman (Naples/Marcus Whitman) made six saves in goal.

Buffalo State will host Potsdam on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
