Women’s Lacrosse Season Ends With Loss to Brockport in SUNYAC Semis

CORTLAND, NY—Katie Henderson (Lakeview/ Frontier) scored five goals, but Buffalo State (9-4) could not rally past Brockport (12-3), falling 17-12 in the SUNYAC semifinals today at the SUNY Cortland Stadium Complex.

Henderson brought her school record single-season total to 53, shattering the previous best of 39. Stephanie Georgopoulos (Pt. Jefferson Station/ Comsewogue) netted four goals. Molly Seifritz (Syracuse/ Henninger) added a goal and three assists, and Shantel Ackley (Baldwinsville/ CW Baker) and Erin Silky (Liverpool/ Liverpool) also scored.

Brockport jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead and held a 6-4 advantage, before ripping off six consecutive goals late in the first half and early in the second, to open up a 12-4 margin. The Bengals battled back in the second frame, closing the deficit to 15-11, but could not pull any closer.

Brockport outshot the Bengals 37-27 for the game. Freshman Ashley O’Brien (Lima/ Honeoye Falls-Lima) had 14 saves for the Bengals.
