Women's Soccer Blasts Altoona, 8-0
Gina Monaco (Niagara Falls/Niagara Falls) scored three goals to lead unbeaten Buffalo State (4-0) to an 8-0 victory over Penn State Altoona in the first round of its own tournament today in Altoona, Penn.
Monaco score the first three goals of the game to give the Bengals a commanding lead. Liz Jacobsen (Gresham, OR/Sam Barlow), Maddie Morosey (N. Collins/N. Collins), Sam Taylor (Wilson/Wilson), Katie Johnson (Cohocton/Wayland-Cohocton), and Mary Doody (Tully/Tully) all added single goals for the Bengals. Katie Melsert (Burnt Hills/Burnt Hills-Ballston Spa) made just four saves for the shutout.
Buffalo State will play Marietta in tomorrow's championship game at 11 a.m.
