Freshman phenom Missy Balling's (Tonawanda/Tonawanda) two goals and an assist led upstart Buffalo State past RIT, 4-2, today at Coyer Field.

Balling opened the scoring for the Bengals just 46 seconds into the game with an unassisted marker. RIT pulled even in the ninth minute on a goal by Moet De La Torre (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville). Balling struck again just over three minutes later with an assist from Becky Sommer (N. Tonawanda/N. Tonawanda). RIT knotted the score again at 2-2 in the closing minutes of the first half on a goal by Alaina Chorney (Manalapan, NJ/Manalapan). Buffalo State went ahead for good in the 60th minute as Sommer and Balling connected again, this time with Sommer finding the back of the net. The Bengals received an insurance goal in the game's waning minutes as an RIT player inadvertently directed the ball into her own goal.

Buffalo State improved to 3-0-1 for its best start to a season in school history. The Bengals will travel to Daemen on Sunday at 1 p.m.
