Women's soccer player Gina Monaco (Niagara Falls) was named Buffalo State's Athlete of the Week.

The sophomore forward continued right where she left off after her rookie season, as she tallied four goals to lead the Bengals to a 5-1 victory over visiting Hilbert in the team's season opener. Monaco, who notched school records for goals and points in a season in 2002 with 20 and 45 respectively, has already moved into a tie for fourth on the Bengals' all-time scoring list.
