Women's Swimming and Diving Fall at William Smith
Buffalo State women's swimming and diving team competed at William Smith this afternoon. The Bengals were defeated 149-95, despite three first-place finishes.
Freshman Sara Weinert (S.Byron/Byron-Bergen) came in at 11:30 in the 1000 free to take a first place finish, while teammate Mindy Wood (Middlesex/Marcus Whitman) swam an impressive race in the 500 free to also receive first place accolades with a time of 5:47.87. The Bengals third first place finish of the day was awarded to the 200 free relay team, consisting of Marie Ryer (Buffalo/Hutch Tech), Kari Pappert (Macedon/PalmyraMacedon), Weinert and Susan Stiner (Niagara Falls/Niagara Falls).
Diver Nicole Rutkowski (Williamsville/Williamsville North) received second place in today's event. Her score of 251.45 is a NCAA provisional national qualifier. This is the second-straight day the freshman has received a nationally qualifying score.
The Bengals drop to 2-2 overall. The team will travel to compete in the North Country Invitational on Nov. 19-20.
