They’re up! They’re down! No, wait—they’re still up!
At least in the first two weeks, Buffalo State is among the top three colleges competing in the annual Adirondack Cup, moving to second place in the week ending October 27.
This is the fifth year that the Economics and Finance Department has organized a team. The competition, which began October 16, includes 24 teams from colleges mostly across the Northeast. In the second week of competition, Buffalo State bested the likes of Bryn Mawr College and Hofstra University as well as fellow SUNYs at Brockport, Plattsburgh, and Geneseo.
Each team manages a (hypothetical) million-dollar small-cap portfolio. So far, Buffalo State has a 4.31 percent return—outperforming the benchmark Russell 2000 Index, which posted a mere .39 percent since the competition began. Buffalo State students on the Adirondack Cup team are Grace Bolton, Nathan Clark, Paul Dixon, Andre and Lott, Jacob Walsh. The competition is sponsored by Adirondack Funds.
