Buffalo State graduate and Academy Award-winning producer Deborah Oppenheimer has been named executive vice president of NBC Universal's International Television Production division.

A noted television producer whose credits include the Drew Carey Show, George Lopez, and others, Oppenheimer was most recently president of Mohawk Productions at Warner Bros.

Oppenheimer graduated magna cum laude from Buffalo State with a bachelor’s degree in English secondary education. Maintaining close ties with the college and SUNY, Oppenheimer was awarded an honorary doctor of fine arts from the State University of New York in 2005 and received the Buffalo State College Distinguished Alumnus Award in 2001.

A member of the college's television and film arts program strategic council, Oppenheimer has been on campus to screen her Oscar-winning documentary Into the Arms of Strangers: Stories of the Kindertransport.

The 2000 film about the Kindertransport that rescued 10,000 children, including Oppenheimer’s mother, from Nazi-occupied territories earned the producer an Oscar.

In her new role, Oppenheimer will lead NBC Universal’s productions and partnerships in the international market place.
